To all the Moms I love

I just love the month of May, and it is my intention to honor all the Moms of the World today.

Also, May is a very Auspicious Month for finances, growth, revenues and profits. I want health, wealth and abundance to follow you wherever you go.

This is also the month when my Aunt Rosa turns 100 on the 8th and some of my closest friends celebrate birthdays during this month, including my sister Luz on the 29th. So you see, “celebration” is all around me.

My Aunt Rosa is having a grand old party in Miami and celebrating in typical style to include a Salsa band, and even Mariachis to serenade her. The woman is a hoot, and totally amazing with her wisdom that she so generously shares with the rest of us.

In addition, though my Mom passed away 9 years ago, her spirit and legacy lives in my heart so in her honor, I want to tell you a little story of my Mom’s courage and selfless, unconditional love for her children.

When we were ready to leave by what then had become Communist Cuba as a family, i.e., my Mom, my two little sisters and I, while in the waiting room of the airport (a.k.a. La Pescera or “Fish Bowl”) and at the very last minute as the flight is being called for boarding, my Mom gets grabbed by two militia officers demanding she’d make a decision, it’s either her or her children, and they announced News had come from higher ups, where they were ordered not to allow families to travel together anymore, so it was her or the children; and no answer was given whether there would be a possbility of another flight where she could follow. – My mother’s courage and unconditional love was monumental. To her the answer was obvious: “the children”, of course! –

Imagine the motherly love and courage that it took for my Mom to make that kind of a decision not knowing whether she’d ever see us again or not, but she knew in her heart that living under a communist regime would destroy the chances for her children to have a life of opportunity and grow up to be amazing adults.

It was four long months before we were reunited , and then as the saying goes, “the rest is history”!

So it is in honor of her selfless love and indisputable bravery that I share this story with you, and to you Mom, I love you! – Thanks for everything!!!!

To all of you, to all of the powerful nurturing women in this world and the amazing men that support us , our work continues and will perpetuate. Never to stop, and always to grow with that fabulous sense of pride that kicks it up a notch.

If you have a “Mom Story” to share, I’d love to hear it!  This is a great place to do just that.
